These pendants are made from the highest quality Irish oak bog wood. Burned onto each is the Ogham Hazel-Coll. They are wrapped in antique colored copper wire and come with an adjustable leather cord.
Hazel-Coll-pronounced ‘cull’ or ‘coll’. This Ogham few represents wisdom, knowledge, enlightenment, inspiration, poetic or divinatory gifts. The advice here could be to ‘Seek knowledge through meditation, inner guidance, or straight from the source-experts.’
This Oak has seasoned for over 7 years prior to being made available.
This Bog Oak is of the highest quality and it has been well seasoned cut to the appropriate sizes and checked to ensure that no cracks are present, black in Color, only the most dense wood has been selected. The Bog Oak that I work with was unearthed in County Roscommon Ireland, an area not far from Rathcroghan the Ancient seat of Queen Medb in Connaught.
Bog Oak Wood is a rare and fascinating material, preserved in the unique conditions of the peat bogs for thousands of years.
Trees that fell into the bogs and lakes of Ireland enjoyed protection from decay due to the anaerobic condition of this environment, and over the centuries went through a chemical process staining the wood to the Black color of today.
The Oak itself dates from between 3000 to 8000 years old.
